Bookmarks Deiconizer

In Firefox 4, the styling’s been changed on the Bookmarks Toolbar (on Mac) to show the bookmarks favicon or a folder icon. If you’re like me and have a ton of bookmarks and folders in there, you’ll probably find your window isn’t wide enough to show them all.

I missed some of the bookmarks on the right side of the strip so I’ve created a little Add-on to remove the icons.

You can install from Addons.mozilla.org.

Installation is easy. Once you’ve downloaded the XPI, you can drag it into your browser window or use the Install From File option in the drop-down menu in the Addons Manager.

If you’re on Windows and want to see the little folder drop-down indicators like in the above, add the following to your userChrome.css file (in your AppData/Roaming/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/{your-profile}/chrome directory):

.bookmark-item > .toolbarbutton-menu-dropmarker {
    display: -moz-box !important;
